Description
Iskender with Ornamental Border
Reinterpretation of an illustration inspired by Diaghilev’s opera “La Péri”
In this mythical scene, Alexander the Great, known as Iskender in Persian, sets out in search of immortality after being warned by the Magi of a tragic fate. At the edge of the world, he discovers a sleeping Péri, a celestial being and guardian of the Flower of Immortality. He steals it from her... but in taking away this sacred flower, he prevents her from fulfilling her destiny: to ascend into the light of Ormuzd.
The Péri then awakens. Filled with grace and mystery, she begins an enchanting dance to reclaim what belongs to her. This suspended moment, filled with beauty, tension and magic, is brought to life in a vibrant reinterpretation, where myth and art come together.
