Description

Inspired by the celebrated panoramic wallpaper Les Paysages de Télémaque dans l'île de Calypso, produced in 1861 by the Joseph Dufour Manufacture, this illustration celebrates the luminous beauty of Mediterranean landscapes.

With its azure sea, emblematic trees of the South and sun-drenched horizons, it evokes the peaceful atmosphere of the Mediterranean shores that have fascinated artists and travellers for centuries.

For this interpretation, Paradisio Imaginarium chose to simplify the original composition by removing the classical figures, allowing the poetry of the landscape and the richness of the scenery to take centre stage.

Drawn from the collections of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs in Paris, this work reflects Paradisio Imaginarium’s approach: revealing the treasures of 18th- and 19th-century French decorative arts through a meticulous process of restoration, reconstruction and reinterpretation.
